Amazon Market Place - Introduction
Lots of people know about the Internet site Amazon, it is next to eBay™ one of the biggest sites on the Internet with daily traffic in the tens of thousands.

Next to eBay™ Amazon is one of the biggest sites on the Internet with daily traffic in the tens of thousands.
It began life as an online bookstore but has grown to monstrous proportions and you can buy almost anything, from cd’s to wi-fi wireless router.

What a lot of people don’t know about is the Amazon market place, here you can sell your old books, games, and dvds, and if you become a merchant seller (£30.00 per month and reduced fees) you can list pretty much anything you want, the main difference is though, there’s no up front charge like eBay.co.uk - eBay™ listing fee. The money is taken out at the end of the sale, although the amount of the fees taken compared to eBay.co.uk - eBay™ are a lot more, there’s no initial fee to list your item and you don’t need to write descriptions for books, cd or dvd, just enter the ISBN (book) EAN (cd) or UPC (dvd) and Amazons own item description is used. And everything is done using menus so you can list an item in around 60 seconds.

The you sell at is fixed and you are given money towards the p&p and you are told how much you will receive for an item if it sells after deductions.

Because of the fixed price element of the marketplace there is very strong competition on prices of certain items, there are mass produced paperbacks that everyone is selling for 1p each, I have sold some books at this price, you are basically making your money on the postage (like I just mentioned Amazon charges the buyer a set amount for postage and gives the seller half the amount they receive)

There is also a ‘wish’ list that users of the site use to say which items they are looking for and how much they are willing to pay, if you are listing an item and it’s on someones wish list it tells you how much they are willing to pay. You can then list it at the price they will pay or haggle by listing it higher, I have sold books a few time like this and I have always been surprised how much people are willing to pay for an old paperback.

There is a feedback system although not used very much from what I can make out, there’s an auction section to Amazon, not very popular so not much to buy there, and like you get your own store which you can have featured items in.

All in all Amazon market place is a good site to make some extra cash on, it’s quick, there’s no up front fees and the listings last for 2 months or so before you have to re-list, which is just a matter of clicking a button. So give the Amazon marketplace a try, you’ve nothing to loose.
